According to a recent survey by the American Pet Products Association, 53 percent of dogs and 38 percent of cats in U.S. households will receive gifts during the Christmas season.
With an estimated 78.2 million dogs and 86.4 million pet cats in the U.S., this translates to big business for pet boutiques and the pet product sales reps that market pet toys, treats, attire, carriers, and other gift items.
A growing number of well known companies, such as Harley Davidson and Old Navy, are cashing in on the strong pet product sales market by adding pet items to their product lines.
